I redesigned and taught a graduate course at UNC’s School of Information & Library Science for librarians pursuing educational roles. The course provided a comprehensive overview of instructional and educational design theory while enabling students to design and implement evidence-based learning experiences.

Key Course Components

Learning Reflections

Students posted daily reflections on class content to the LMS — reinforcing learning, facilitating discussion, and developing educator capabilities.

Learning Facilitator Days

Beginning in week three, students rotated leading class sessions on approved topics, developing lesson plans with instructor guidance and receiving feedback for improvement.

Final Project

Students wrote personal teaching philosophies and created annotated lesson plans applying those philosophies to real educational scenarios.
